Deeply committed to dentistry and the health professions, Doctor Matsushima has taught at U.C., U.O.P., and U.S.C.
Dental Schools, he's been President of the Santa Clara County Dental Society, Health Commissioner in the City
of San Jose, and many other professional boards and offices.
Doctor Matushima has won many professional and academic honors, and is a Fellow to many of the professional
associations. Fellowship is an honorary degree bestowed on a dentist because of an outstanding achievement.
A native of Hawaii, Doctor Matsushima graduated from UCSF Dental School in 1965 where he was the Student Body
(ASUC) President during the Free Speech Movement. He served during the Vietnam War as an Air Force Captain
between 1965 and 1968. Doctor Matsushima has been in private practice in San Jose since 1968.
